THE NORMAN SINGERS TO HOLD FREE CONCERT AT DEPOT SATURDAY APR 12 |

 The Norman Singers The Norman Singers will be performing a free concert Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Depot. This concert will feature soloists, Rose Mansell, soprano and David McDonald, tenor, performing songs of Aaron Copeland, works by Michael Head, and "The Cat Duet" by Rossini. The choir will sing a selection of pieces taken from the upcoming spring concert with a variety of styles including madrigals, American spirituals, and pop music. The choir will also sing "Dust Bowl Prophet" the winner of the Society's 2007 high school poetry contest written by Aja Bain and composed by Beverly McLarry as a sampling of the work produced by the choir's annual poetry contest.The Norman Singers, the primary performing group of the Norman Community Choral Society, is made up of people from all walks of life who share the many pleasures of choral music. The group's purpose since founding in 1979 has been to give the people of Norman and surrounding communities an opportunity to learn and perform all types of choral music in entertaining and informative programs.
