GRIEF used to be a wet knot Bones had a choice-- get sucked in or run Now it has unleashed itself seeping through my skin Crying its little tears of joy Traveling through my bones Elizabeth Sargent
| Elizabeth Sargent will be reading a selection of new poems, as well as poems from some of her published chapbooks, at the Performing Arts Studio Second Sunday Poetry Reading on June 14. The reading begins at 2:00 in the Norman Depot, 200 South Jones Avenue. There is no admission charge. Light refreshments will be served. Sargent, who has have lived in Norman since 1986, teaches Composition at OU. In addition to five published chapbooks, she also writes and publishes short stories. Her poetry has been included in numerous journals. Although originally from Rhode Island, Sargent considers Norman her home. While attending the poetry reading, the Performing Arts Studio invites visitors to enjoy the paintings of Sue Schofield in the gallery. “Forms Large and Small” will remain on view through July 25. Poetry and Gallery Exhibitions at PAS are made possible, in part, by grants from the Norman Arts Council, the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Performing Arts Studio (PAS) is housed in the Norman Train Depot, 200 S. Jones. Gallery and office hours are from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and from 1:00 to 5:00 most Sundays.
