Mike Hosty Duo Norman’s very own Hosty Duo will fill Lion’s Park with catchy, high octane tunes on Sunday night July 22nd at 7:30 p.m. The Summer Breeze Concert in Lions Park, South Flood and Symmes, is free. Bring favorite picnic items and lawn chairs or blankets to the park. Mike Hosty and Mike “Tic Tac” Byars have been playing great music together for the past decade. Both are seasoned musicians who are in no way afraid to try new tricks as well as new forms of old tricks. A casual sampling of their set might lead one to believe that it would take at least four players to make their sound. However, after a closer look at Mike Hosty’s feet and Mike Byars economical, locomotive like licks on the drums, it becomes apparent that you are witnessing two superb musicians at the top of their game.
Summer Breeze Chairman Steven White says, “We are very excited to have Mike and Tic Tac back on the Summer Breeze line up this year. So many people read and hear about the Duo but don’t get the opportunity to see them. This is the perfect chance to catch one of the kindest and most talented bands touring today.” The Duo will play nearly 250 shows this year all over the country entertaining a brilliant mix of fans and drawing audiences into their points of view with incredibly well written, sly songs about love, macaroni and cheese, Linda Cavanaugh, tornadoes, and The Cleveland County Detention Center. The Performing Arts Studio will collect nonperishable food items at the concert for Norman’s Food for Friends. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring items to be donated. “Mike and I talked about a family picnic show last fall when I asked him to play. The chance for his fans and the thousand or so who attend Summer Breeze to give to a valuable service in our community and help others just makes sense to me.” White says. This will be the first time the PAS has collected food donations at a Summer Breeze event and anticipation is high that a significant amount of nonperishable food items will be donated.
