MOUNTAIN SMOKE TO FIRE UP SUMMER BREEZE

Mountain Smoke

Mountain Smoke is sure to fire up audience enthusiasm at the Summer Breeze Concert Sunday, August 5, with their lively blend of country and folk, the power of newgrass and the sweet flow of mountain ballads. After thirty-five years of performing, as songwriters and musicians they remain on the cutting edge of acoustic music with a sound as fresh now as when they began.

The free Summer Breeze Concert begins at 7:30 PM in Andrews Park Amphitheater, Webster and Daws. Concert goers are invited to take advantage of Amphitheater built in seating. Lawn chairs or blankets are welcome on either side in the grassy areas. Bring your favorite refreshments and enjoy a musical journey, Mountain Smoke style.

Twice selected as “Oklahoma’s Favorite Band” by the readers poll in The Daily Oklahoman, and “Oklahoma’s Best Country Band” by the Oklahoma Gazette Music Awards, Oklahoma’s Mountain Smoke has performed for Presidents Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, and every Oklahoma Governor since 1973.

The band’s list of performance credits reads like a who’s who in country music. Appearing with Alabama, Asleep At The Wheel, Hoyt Axton, The Bellamy Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, Roy Clark, Vassar Clements, Commander Cody and The Lost Planet Airmen, Charlie Daniels, Elvin Bishop, Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers, Arlo Guthrie, Merle Haggard, Emmy Lou Harris, John Hartford, Richie Havens, Chris Hillman, Willie Nelson, New Grass Revival, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Gary P. Nunn, Pure Prairie League, Leon Redbone, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, George Strait, Shoji Tabuchi, Mel Tillis, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hank Williams, Jr., and the now famous “KISS” concert.

The group is also known for launching the musical careers of Vince Gill, Jimmy Gyles (with Roy Clark), Bobby Clark (Williams & Clark) and David Coe (with Michael Martin Murphy).

Mountain Smoke is Tom Bergman (guitar, banjo, and vocals), Jackie Mashore (accordion and vocals), Roger Mashore (bass, guitar and vocals), Kenny Davis (resonator and pedal steel), Billy Perry (banjo, mandolin, guitar, resonator, and vocals), Don Funnell (drums, percussion, and harmonica), Jimmy Gyles (fiddle, mandolin, and guitar), and Hal Clifford (guitar and vocals).

Travis Linville and Friends will perform at the August 19 Summer Breeze Concert in Lions Park, Norman.
